Description

Reliance peach is a cold-hardy peach variety known for its excellent sweet flavour and dependable production in cooler climates. The fruit has yellow skin with a red blush and tender, juicy flesh that is ideal for fresh eating, baking, and preserves.

Care Instructions

Light: Full sun. Provide at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for healthy growth and good fruit production.

Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, water deeply during dry periods, especially during fruit development. Avoid waterlogged soil.

Soil: Well-draining soil is essential. Loamy soil rich in organic matter is ideal. Slightly acidic to neutral pH works well.

Fertilizing: Apply compost or a balanced fruit tree fertilizer in early spring before growth begins. Avoid excessive nitrogen.

Pruning: Prune annually in late winter or early spring while dormant. Remove dead or damaged branches and maintain an open center for good airflow and sunlight.

Mulching: Apply mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Keep mulch a few inches away from the trunk.

Support: Young trees may need staking for the first year or two. Mature trees usually do not require support.

Pollination: Self-fertile. Does not require another peach tree for fruit production.

Harvesting: Harvest in mid to late summer when fruit is fully colored, slightly soft, and easily separates from the branch.
